Gifu Castle is a castle located in the city of Gifu, in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. It is also known as Inabayama Castle and was built on top of Mount Kinka, which overlooks the city.
The castle was originally constructed in 1201 by the lord of the local region, Nikaido Yukimitsu. Over the centuries, the castle was destroyed and rebuilt several times due to war and natural disasters. The current castle tower was reconstructed in 1956, and the surrounding castle grounds have been turned into a public park.
Visitors to Gifu Castle can take a cable car or hike up to the castle tower and enjoy panoramic views of the city and surrounding area. The castle tower itself contains a museum with exhibits on the history and culture of the castle and its surrounding region. Gifu Castle is also famous for its cherry blossoms, which bloom in spring and attract many visitors.
1601年(慶長6年) – 徳川家康は岐阜城の廃城を決め、奥平信昌に10万石を与えて、加納城を築城させました。その際、岐阜城山頂にあった天守、櫓などは加納城に、御殿建築は大垣市赤坂のお茶屋敷に移されたという。岐阜城は、3階までは史料展示室、4階は展望台となっており、長良川や岐阜市街を一望する事が出来る
The Gifu castle serves as a historical-records exhibition room, the fourth floor has become an observatory to the third floor, and it can command a whole view of Nagara-gawa or the Gifu street.
